Absolutely, if you want to challenge the current work state through projects, then you need to accept that aspects will fail, only 34% of all change initiatives succeed.
My learning is through the managements of the risks and controls, closely managing them are integral. Appropriate supporting documentation (test and learn logs and tactical implementation plans) will keep your project true and logging them will enable future teams to understand.
