With no formal qualifications, I joined the company in 2011
I started with First Central 12 years ago as a Motor Claims handler, having worked in other insurance companies in similar roles. I progressed within the company and took on various leadership roles as a Team Leader and Team Manager. Having spent several years working in the Claims Department I took an opportunity to work as part of a project team which led to me being offered a role in our Learning and Development team as a Claims Trainer. This involved training our colleagues on the technical aspects of handling motor claims. A year into my role as a Claims Trainer, I applied for a new role as a Leadership Trainer which involved supporting the development of leaders within the business.
In 2022 I was promoted to Leadership Development Business Partner.
I design and deliver Leadership Development learning
My role in leadership development is varied and involved me launching a business-wide mentor scheme and an internal podcast. My role has allowed me to develop skills in content creation for digital learning and I have just launched a digital leadership programme.
I support the development of leaders at all levels from aspiring leaders, managers, heads of department and directors.
my role provides me with a constant opportunity to develop myself
I love the fact my role provides me with a constant opportunity to learn new skills which allows me to develop myself and my colleagues.
don’t box yourself in with one particular career route
My advice would be to grow and develop with the business and don’t box yourself in with one particular career route in mind as other career paths can open up.
I am most proud of the human impact I have had with my colleagues.
I have won a few company-wide awards and, I have launched numerous projects but I am most proud of the human impact I have had with my colleagues.
